What Rowseta is
Rowseta reads your institution’s Brightspace Data Sets (the bulk data exports Brightspace produces every day) and turns them into two things:
- Reports. Saved questions about your data, such as “which students have not opened this course in two weeks”. You run them in Rowseta and export the results. Report sharing is available on paid plans.
- Insight widgets. Small cards that show a few numbers from your reports on a Brightspace course homepage. They show numbers for the signed course without leaving Brightspace.
If you don’t see this menu or button, your role doesn’t include it. Ask someone who can edit roles (Owners and Admins by default).
The words Rowseta uses

| Organization | Your institution’s space in Rowseta. Everything you set up belongs to it. |
| Rowseta address | The web address people use to sign in, such as big-brain.rowseta.com. |
| People | Everyone who can use your Organization, whether invited or created by a Brightspace launch. |
| Role | What a person can do in Rowseta. Each person has exactly one role. |
| Dataset | One Brightspace Data Set, such as Users or Course Access. |
| Sync | Rowseta copying the latest data from Brightspace. |
| Evaluation | The free way to try Rowseta with your real data before you buy. |

How the pieces fit
Section titled “How the pieces fit”- The signup person becomes Owner and connects Brightspace for data (Connect Brightspace).
- Rowseta finds your datasets and runs the first sync (Run your first sync).
- Someone who builds reports publishes a report from a template or their own query (Build your first report).
- Register Rowseta as an LTI tool in Brightspace (Register Rowseta for LTI launches). Then place an insight widget in courses (Put a widget in a Brightspace course).
